Linking more than one Instagram account? Each account must be completely different in nature, for example a lifestyle account and a dog account. From 1 October 2026, backup or duplicate accounts can't be linked. Read more: Linking multiple social accounts
There are two ways to link Instagram:
Any Instagram account (public or private): verify by sending us a direct message.
Professional (Creator or Business) accounts: sign in with Instagram. This also lets Social Tip read your insights, which can increase what you earn.
Link your account by direct message
Open your social accounts: In the Social Tip app, go to the Profile tab. Under Your social accounts, tap Add new. If you haven't linked an account yet, tap Add next to Instagram in the Add social account section and skip step 2.
Choose Instagram: Tap Add next to Instagram.
Send us a message: Tap Continue to Instagram and send a direct message containing only the word hello. You can tap the word in the app to copy it.
Tap the link we send back: We'll reply on Instagram with a link. Tap it to return to Social Tip and finish linking.
Choose your account type: Select Public or Private. If you're not sure, tap Not sure? to find out how to check.
If you chose Public, you're done and can start posting.
If your Instagram account is private
We can only see posts from a private account if Social Tip follows it. After you link a private account:
Wait for our follow request: Social Tip will send a follow request to your Instagram account, usually within 24 hours. Tap Notify me to get an alert when it arrives.
Accept the request: Open Instagram and accept the follow request from Social Tip.
Start posting: Once you've accepted, you can add posts and earn rewards.
Because demand is high, private accounts are sometimes placed on a waitlist before we can send a follow request. To start straight away, switch your Instagram account to public. The waitlist screen has an option to update your account type in Social Tip.
Link a professional account with Instagram sign-in
Open your social accounts: Go to the Profile tab and tap Add new, or Add next to Instagram if this is your first account.
Choose Instagram: Tap Add next to Instagram.
Switch to professional sign-in: At the bottom of the screen, tap here next to "Got a professional account?"
Sign in with Instagram: Tap Sign in with Instagram and log in to the account you want to link.
Allow access: Give Social Tip access to your profile and insights.
Done: You'll see Account added! once your account is linked.
Don't have a professional account? Instagram will offer to switch your account type while you sign in. It's quick and free, and it can increase your earning potential. If you'd rather not switch, tap here next to "Don't want to switch?" to use the direct message method instead.
